A STORY OF THE STONE AGE

by H.G. Wells

decorative image

Introduction

This story is H.G. Wells' imaginings of what may have transpired thousands of years ago when our ancestors discovered how to develop new technologies like riding horses and fashioning stone weapons. We know from archaeology that these events happened and common sense tells us that there must have been a special individual back then who was the first to do each thing, but who that person was is lost to history.

Wells' story is an attempt to fill that gap.

As is true for many stories on this site, the text of this is available elsewhere, but several other sites mistakenly show just the first of Wells' five chapters instead of the entire story. Here at Science Fiction Archive we individually check the quality of every story we post; we strive to get the details right and not miss things :)

Enjoy,
SFA
